About Julie Potts
Julie has always had a great love of music which started when she began having piano lessons as a child. She studied piano for many years until she attained her Diploma in piano performance (AmusA).
Now a fully accredited piano and theory teacher with the Music Teacher's Association of NSW, she has been offering private piano lessons in her home studio for 20 years. Julie filled the role of president of the Illawarra branch of the Music Teacher's Association of NSW for 4 years from 2002 to 2006, in which time she organised many concerts and workshops for the students of the Illawarra region. Now, having sought a "seachange" she has moved "Julie's Music Studio" to the beautiful Port Stephens area.
Julie has always endeavoured to provide her students with high quality instruction together with energetic motivation, aiming to instil a life-long love of music.
During her career as a piano teacher Julie has developed a great love of children of all ages, and also recognised a need for musical experiences for the very young child - those who are too young to start learning a musical instrument such as the piano. After doing some research she stumbled upon Kindermusik and found it to fill the need perfectly.
Julie has now been a Kindermusik educator since early 2008, offering the Kindermusik experience to families from all over Port Stephens. She finds teaching Kindermusik to young children and their families to be an amazingly rewarding experience, as the developmental and social benefits of participating in these high quality classes becomes very evident. They are also so much fun for child, parent and teacher alike!
Julie sincerely believes in the philosophy of Kindermusik and it's concern for the "whole child", and the role that early music education plays in providing a foundation for future learning in all areas of development, as well as facilitating the transition into learning a musical instrument at around the age of 5-7 years. Her early childhood keyboard/piano lessons follow on perfectly from Kindermusik.
Julie loves teaching and passing on the joy of music and it's benefits to all her students.
